Rotary Wheels Crathes Rally - Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May
Held over 2 days, this fun family event featured classic cars and motorcycles on display alongside some excellent stalls and high quality family entertainment. Set in beautiful surroundings and juxtaposed with the Victorian station of the Deeside Railway and the River Dee, the Rotary Wheels Rally once again brought motoring heritage to life!
A few members attended the event on the Saturday but around 15 club cars were present on the Sunday which was mainly sunny, but sadly interrupted by some short sharp showers. Sadly this meant that a number of entrants were 'no shows' which left a few empty spaces on the field. Members of the Aberdeen MGOC are much more hardy though and all who entered turned up and sought shelter in the club gazebo when the heavens opened. The weather also meant that some of the planned entertainment also did not materialise and we were asked to do a short parade in the arena to fill a gap - thanks to Anita for the short video below.
Thanks also to our good friend Paul Barlow of PLB Photos (https://plbphotos.weebly.com/ and https://www.facebook.com/plbphotosuk) who took the pictures of Club members arriving.
The traditional road run also took place with a number of members taking the trip around the Aberdeenshire countryside. The run included a visit to Inchmarlo Retirement Village where the residents were able to view all the cars - thanks again to Anita for the pictures below.
Sadly this was the second year that the event suffered bad weather which is a great shame for the organisers who put in a great deal of hard work to ensure the event runs smoothly; fingers crossed that next year is better!
