Annual Show and Awards - Drum Castle - Saturday 26th July

Our Annual Show and Awards event took place once again on the magnificent lawn of NTS Drum Castle on Saturday 26h July. Around 60 MGs from the 1930's to the present day were exhibited on the lawn and this year we were joined by 7 fantastic Morris Minors who were members of our invited guest club.  Sunday saw the similar event organised by our friends in the Grampian Region Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club with both events making this a Classic Car Weekend.

Saturday dawned bright and sunny and the day was very warm and as a result, a large number of spectators came along to see the show.

As usual, the event was in aid of local charities and we were joined on the lawn by the following stall holders:

  • Hearing Dogs for the Deaf
  • Aberdeen Advanced Motorists (AAM) who are part of the Institute of Advanced Motoring
  • The RNLI

Also there to entertain us were Scottish Culture & Traditions (SC&T) who are an Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire based organisation. Their aim is to advance the education of the public in Scottish Culture and Traditions by the promotion of Scottish traditional music, song and dance through learning and participation in a way that fosters enjoyment, enthusiasm and a sense of community. They entertained us with some traditional Scottish music performed by some very talented youngsters and went down a storm with the crowds.

The Malpasso Gang have become our resident band over the past couple of years at Drum and this year they performed 3 sets of music to keep the crowds entertained.

We were kept well fed throughout the by Sally's Coffee and Cakes (https://www.sallys-portlethen.com/) who supplied fabulous coffee and cakes, as well as Louise's Farm Kitchen (https://www.facebook.com/Louisesfarmkitchen/?locale=en_GB) who were kept busy cooking amazing bacon rolls in the morning and burgers at lunchtime!

All too soon the day was over for another year and we were packing all the marquees away ready for next year!

Very many thanks to all the members who helped set up the field, who marshalled and judged on the day as well as helping take everything down. Thanks to Graham for once again being the Master of Ceremonies / Commentator, to John Chessor and Anita Kreft for supplying many of the photos below, and to our good friend Paul Barlow who has uploaded some pictures of the members arriving at the event to his website - https://plbphotos.weebly.com/aberdeen-mg-owners-show-2025.html.
