Gathering of the Clans - aka Doune - Sunday 25th September

One of Scotland's premier MG events, The Gathering of The Clans was held on 25th September at the fabulous Scottish Antiques Centre in Doune. This popular event is the annual opportunity for all the Scottish MG Owners Clubs and other MG enthusiasts to get together and show their cars, so apart from the attraction of the cars on display, it presents a great chance to catch up with friends both old and new.

A fantastic turnout of 120 cars attended and whilst it stayed stay dry, (just!), it was a bit on the chilly side with a fairly brisk breeze. Nonetheless, there was plenty to see and the Doune Pipe Band added to the atmosphere.

A handful of members met at the Stonehaven Swimming Pool Car Park bright and early in the morning and we headed off to The Horn for a hearty breakfast.  We met a couple more members both en-route and at Doune - a couple of people had travelled down the day before and night stopped locally.  in the end, 8 members cars were on our stand.

Even with the very reasonable entry fee of just £5, extra donations and money from the tombola /raffle meant that after paying for the hire of the venue and the pipe band, the organisers were able to donate £183-00 each to Maggie's Cancer Care, Dundee, and to The 7th Clackmannanshire Scout Group.

Despite the chilly breeze, everyone enjoyed what is essentially the last 'official' club outing of the year.
