Visit to The Bus Collection at Alford - Thursday 10th April 2025.
This excursion was arranged instead of our usual monthly Kippie lodge meeting. It was attended by 19 members. We had lovely weather that day and on arrival the volunteers from the bus collection had 4 buses parked on the grass for us to view and wander into at our leisure.
George Mair, Donald Ballantyne and Willie Benzie were our guides for the evening. We split into two groups and were treated to a tour of the buses and they gave us a real insight into both the history of the vehicles in the collection and the operations of Aberdeen and Grampian Regional Transport over the years. They were very open to receiving questions from our enthusiastic group.
They depend on donations to complete the restorations of vehicles and this is always a challenge. The club so enjoyed the visit that we as a club decided to donate £100.00 from club funds to help preserve its future and to say thank you for their time which was much appreciated by alll.
