47th Scottish Transport Extravaganza - Glamis Castle - 8th & 9th July.

The Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club hosted the 47th Scottish Transport Extravaganza in the magnificent grounds of Glamis Castle over the weekend of 8th & 9th July. This event is regarded as the premier vintage motoring spectacular in Scotland and is one of the largest of its kind in Britain.

This year the event sold out well in advance and over 1700 vehicles representing a wide array of transport comprising veteran, vintage and classic vehicles and machinery (cars, commercials, military, tractors, steam engines, motor cycles, static engines and exhibits) were in attendance.

In addition, over 150 Stands including auto jumble, motor trade, antiques and fundraising stalls were present and kept the massive crowd entertained.

Poor weather on the Friday didn’t bode well and although Saturdays weather wasn’t brilliant, on the Sunday, when most Club members attended, the sun shone throughout the day!

As we have done in the past, rather than entering as a club, our members joined Mike and Kay Dennis on the Tayside Team Dennis MGOC stand which was packed with MGs of all ages, so many thanks to Mike and Kay for all their hard work and for welcoming us on to their stand.

Many thanks too to our good friend Blue for supplying the pictures and the 'James Bond' video. See if you can spot the barbed wire HT lead on one of the cars in the pictures!  Yes, really!

This really is a fantastic event and if you have never been I would thoroughly recommend that you go next year!
