Solstice Run - June 21st

Our annual Solstice Run is traditionally one of the most popular Road Runs on our calendar, and this year was no exception! As the name suggests, the run is held on or near the Summer Solstice which this year fell on Tuesday 21st June.

28 cars (albeit not all MGs!) containing 49 enthusiastic people assembled in the unusually busy Swimming Pool car park in Stonehaven at around 18:30 and after the customary chat between members, we headed off for (approximately) 45 miles of summer motoring through the scenic Aberdeenshire countryside.

Brilliantly organised as ever by John and Jill Chessor, the route took participants South through the Mearns and after our traditional chaotic photo stop on the Cairn O’Mount, we headed towards Banchory for a fantastic evening meal at the brilliant Falls of Feugh restaurant.

This restaurant never fails to impress and as always, they looked after us brilliantly with helpful, friendly staff and fabulous food – highly recommended if you get the chance to visit. We were all seated in the function room and until we started eating, the noise level was quite high as people related their escapades on the run!

There was a small competitive element this year with several anagrams of house and place names on the route which had to be solved – congratulations to Stuart & Liz Scott for winning the bottle of Prosecco.

To round off the evening, Jill had baked a cake for long standing member Jim Sellens who was celebrating his 80th birthday - Happy Birthday Jim!

Thanks to John and Jill for organising it all, to everyone for attending and for making the evening such a success, and thanks to Lewis and Roger for supplying many of the pictures below.
