Aberdeen MG Owners' Club

An informal gathering place for MG car enthusiasts in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

The central MG Owners' Club was formed in 1973 to serve the growing needs of MG owners. For over 50 years, the MG Owners' Club has concentrated on making it easier, cheaper and more enjoyable to own an MG.

The vast membership base has helped earn the Club the reputation of being the World's largest single marque car club and their aim is to help you enjoy your MG ownership to the full.

The Aberdeen MG Owners' Club is a regional branch of the Club; with over 60 members it is an informal gathering place for MG car enthusiasts primarily in the Grampian Region, but everyone is welcome.

Whether you own an MG, be it a new or old model, petrol or electric, are thinking of buying one or are merely interested in the marque, you will fit in perfectly.

Our regular monthly meetings give us an opportunity to swap technical information (and anecdotes!), appreciate each other's cars and, above all make new friends. During the winter months, we do a lot of technical nattering and have the occasional presentation from the likes of IAM RoadSmart and Grampian Police; we also devote one of the regular meetings to a Quiz Night and another to a Christmas Dinner - click on the future events tab above for details of forthcoming events. In the spring and summer we have short and longer-distance runs in our cars, including joining as a group in events and rallies not organised by ourselves - click on the past events tab above to see the type of events we attend. At many of the larger Classic car events we generally have a Club stand.

Our regular meeting date is normally the second Thursday of each month at 19:30 at Kippie Lodge Sports and Social Club, Milltimber (but please check the events list for exceptions). Further details about Kippie Lodge can be found by clicking on the link below. Do feel free to come to a meeting without obligation; you will find a warm welcome waiting for you.

Our own major annual event is the club's show and prize day at Drum Castle. Unfortunately we were forced to cancel both the 2020 and 2021 Drum Castle Events due to Covid but in 2021 we still managed to hold a Road Run which culminated in a 'socially distant' picnic on the lawn at Drum Castle on the planned date of August 1st.

In 2022 though, we were back with a record breaking show!! Generously supported by Gillanders MG who had a showroom in Aberdeen, a fantastic hot summers day saw a record entry of 68 MGs which, when added to the 2 cars from the current MG range brought along by Gillanders as well as the Gillanders sponsored Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance MG, meant that we had a magnificent 71 MGs on the lawn.  The display of MG cars of all vintages was accompanied by live music performed by local band 'Nae Cash' who kept the crowd entertained in magnificent style.  Unfortunately due to a date clash, not all of our normal chosen charities were able to attend, however Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance as well as the current racing car from the Aberdeen University TAU Racing Team were present on the lawn.

It was great to be back in full swing in 2023 which saw many club activities including road runs, Club visits and even a trip to the Lake District taking in many attractions. We have booked a Club trip to the Isle of Man Festival of Motoring in September this year and we are planning more exciting trips and road runs for this season, so please come and join us!
