May meeting and run
Well the monthly meeting in May was attended by the usual
die hard "hood down" crew, which was quite handy as the normally poor
Aberdeen weather
abated long enough for us to have a decent run out.
5 cars left Kippie Lodge in Peterculter on the A93 and
headed for Banchory. The sun shone on us
all as we drove past another Aberdeen MGOC haunt at Milton of Crathes which
hosted it's rally on the 24th May.
In Banchory we turned left and crossed the River Dee on the
B974 towards Bridge
of Feuch.
Staying on the B974 we headed into Strachan and turned left
again to embark on the hill climb over the Cairn O Mount, this road is renowned
for being a local race track for members of the motorcycling fraternity, we did
see some bikes but not as many as normal.
A stop was made at the summit which is 454 metres above sea
level and has some quite spectacular views, the 5 cars were lined up for a scenic
shot.

After a quick about turn we headed back the way we had come
and took a left onto a minor unclassified road towards Aboyne in search of
liquid refreshments.
The Feuchside Inn was the choice of Mr Briggs in his 1965
MGB Roadster and was closely followed by Kate and my 1971 MGB Roadster with the
remaining cars bringing up the rear.
After quenching our thirsts we headed back into Banchory
then across on the A980 to the Raemoir Hotel on the B977. From there we headed
back for Aberdeen
where we all went our separate ways.
A great evening was had by all even if a wee bit chilly on
the way home.
Thanks to those members that attended.
Regards
Neil & Kate
Bowling Night:
Well,
what an evening it was.
14
members turned out for the bowling night on Thursday 12th March and it was a
great success. I bet there were a few stiff arms and shoulders the following
morning. Trophies were awarded to the winning guy and gal and those were:
- The Doc with a top score of
104
- Kate with a score of 78
(Don't forget to change your shoes next time....... before you leave the
bowling alley!!!!!!)
Overall
I think that everyone enjoyed themselves and it is something we could consider
doing again in the future. Lets
hope the Scalextric evening is as popular.
Thanks
to all that organised the Bowling at the Sunset Boulevard bowling alley in Aberdeen.
Don't
forget to keep an eye on the website and forum for updates as to plans for
future events and also to send us your ideas for things to do.
There are a couple of pictures in the Photo gallery section.

February 19th meeting was well attended, after the last one was cancelled due to snow.
Some events were discussed and entered into the diary (see the events page for details).
Next month's meeting will take the form of a bowling
night (see the events page for details), and April will be a repeat of last years Scalextric night, plus
hopefully some road runs will be discussed.
As always, Alford is just around the corner, so any
thoughts and ideas can be sent to the club email address or posted ont
he forum. Its only going to be as good as we as a club, can make
it, so all ideas are welcome.
Please feel free to send any pics of you or your car to be hosted on the web page (address can be found on contact page)
