Aberdeen MGOC
Events 2008
Below are the "Club" organised events for the
forthcoming season which we hope will be well supported by the members.
Over and above that there are many events which take place over the
course of the season and many of these are shown in the calender below
which Chris has created and is constantly updating. If there
are other events which members intend to participate
in
or would like to create a club presence or stand
outwith our
own outings, please let us know via the "contact us"
link and
this can be circulated around all. Please remember this is your
club and all suggestions are always welcome.
Events in grey have already happened ;)
April
Sunday
27th, Club run with Highland MGOC
commencing in Aboyne.
The plan is to assemble at Aboyne at the Huntly
Arms Hotel for
1000 hrs on Sunday morning 27th April, for introducing ourselves to the
Highland crew.
We will leave there for Alford and the Transport Museum
for light lunch and thereafter Head for Grantown on Spey via the Lecht.
At Grantown we will say our goodbyes and head for home via Dufftown
etc.
Depending on time we could have a wee visit to a Distillery for a
cuppa or a tour, suggestions or thoughts on this welcomed.
Look forward to a good
turnout and hope that the fuel problem won't
ruin this run out. Keep an eye on the website over the next few days
for further announcements.
May
Sunday 25th, Crathes Vintage Rally. This is an
event we
attended last year and, whilst not an event for club stands, the
organisers placed all the MG's together and this worked well for club
membership. We will do the same again this year, I will circulate an
entry form to all members on request or follow the link as follows http://www.scotgold.com/rally.htm
to apply on line . Please confirm if you are attending so we
can arrange to be grouped.
June
Sunday 1st June, Fraserburgh Vintage Car Rally.
This is
always a well attended event with plenty to see and do (can be very
cold!!) and this year incorporates the "Champion of Champions" for
which I understand Kate and Neils' Roadster has qualified due to a
event win last season. I will be booking a club stand for this event,
initially for some 10 cars so please let me have numbers for this asap
so the stand can be increased/decreased as appropriate. Please be aware
that age of car is not an issue, all welcome.
Sunday 8th June, Tayside Classic Motor Show, The
Airfield, Errol. This show is worth attending and I think again worthy
of a stand if sufficient numbers are interested. I would suggest a run
over the Cairn O' Mount, joining the A90 at Northwater Bridge before
branching off at Forfar and taking the Coupar Angus road. At Coupar
Angus head towards Dundee for a short distance before taking the back
roads over the hills to Abernyte and Inchture. Need to enter for this
prior to 9th May 2008 let me know of interest.
July
Sunday 6th July, proposed Club run. CANCELLED (see 20th July)
Sunday 13th July, joint MG club stand
with Kingdom,
Tayside and possibly Highland members at the Glamis Extravaganza. We
did attend this last year as visitors but Richard from Kingdom has
invited us to join in with the proposed joint stand. As he
needs
to book the space, I will require to know those who wish to attend no
later than say end first week in April. This is a large show and there
are lots of stands, autojumble, displays etc which make this a great
day out. Please reply to the club contact e-mail or via the link to the
club forum which can be accessed via the links tab.
Sunday 20th July, This run will be organised by Mike Park
and the plan is for a treasure hunt incorporating a picnic at some
point along the way. Details to follow!!!
August
Sunday 17th, Alford Event incorporating the
"Meetin' o' the Clans".

Sunday 24th, BBQ at fellow member Gordon
Pattersons
"ranch" up by Turriff. This is a Highland MGOC Event to which we have
been invited again this year and is always a good social meet with our
neighbours and the food is always excellent!! Idea of numbers attending
will be appreciated closer to the time to allow planning and note a
contribution of £5 per head attending.
September
What about a September weekend run? Someone
mentioned a
run round Fife etc with an overnight stop and social evening. Can I ask
for volounteers to organise this to get in touch with ideas as soon as
possible please.
October - TBC
General Events Calendar
At the last club meeting, it was discussed if a
calendar
of events was on line anywhere. After looking, I could only
find
the The Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation list of events which
obviously doesnt have many of the MG related meeting on. So,
I
have made an online reference. It has no dates in yet but I
will
be populating it over the coming weeks so if you can email me with any
dates I will put them in when I get chance.
