Dunrobin
Castle Run - 7th October
There were 3 cars who took the long run up to
Beauly to meet up with our friends from Highland and accompany them on
a little trek up to Dunrobin Castle to meet up with the Sporting Bears
Club who were in the area on a charity fundraising event. Among the
members of this organisation were a number of Edinburgh MGOC members
also.
Setting off from Ellon with my daughter Gemma we were joined by John in
his TF (hood down as ever!) and we set off north to meet with Gordon at
Fochabers. We made the run in excellent time arriving at the meeting
point in time for a coffee before setting off on the main run.
From here things took a turn for the worse with Morag and Ronnie
setting off in the wrong direction, 2 cars having an unfortunate coming
together at a roundabout at Dingwall and Michael’s car
suddenly depositing all its oil on the road in front of me! It is at
times like these that you appreciate breakdown recovery! In addition to
this we all got split up and I understand John and Gordon got lost in
Alness but we all made it to Dunrobin in time for lunch and the
excellent falconry display in the gardens of the Castle. Pity the
weather didn’t hold for the run but a good day out. Amazingly
the B made it without any drama, new dizzy cap and rotor arm looks to
have cured the cutting out or, at least so far….!
